Kunming, 6 June, 2009, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry(DCCI) President Mr. Zafar Osman who is leading 38-Member Delegation to Kunming, China attended the Inaugural Ceremony of 17th China Export Import Fair in Kunming organized in the Kunming International Convention & Exhibition Centre on June 6, 2009. Governor, the Peoples' Government of Yunan Province Mr.Qin Guangrong inaugurated the 17th Kunming Fair and 2nd South Asian Commodities Fair.

Mr. Mohammad Faruque Khan, Hon'ble Minister for Commerce, Government of Bangladesh was present in the Fair. All SAARC and ASEAN countries Commerce Ministers and High Level Government Officials were present in the Ceremony. Hon'ble Minister took a look around in all the Stalls and exchanged views with all the 50 entrepreneurs from Bangladesh who are exhibiting a wide range of products in the Fair. Products from Bangladesh covered textiles and Apparels, Jute and Jute Goods, Leather and Jute Bags, Sarees, Dresses and Dress Materials, Imitation Jewelery, services products like tours and travels, real estate products etc. Bangladeshi attracted huge crowd in the Fair.

In the sidelines of the Fair useful business meetings were held. President had a meeting with Mr. Luo Zhengfu, standing Member of Yunan Provincial Party Committee Vice Govornor of day to day business. He hosted a Luncheon Meeting with all SAARC Business leaders. Business entrepreneurs of Bangladesh raised several pertinent points to enhance business with Kunming. They suggested for Cargo service and other necessary support like smooth shipping of goods to Kunming as it is a land-locked province. H E Mr Zhang Wei, Vice Chairman CCPIT was also present in the meeting.. DCCI President invited CCPIT Delegation to Bangladesh.The meeting was held at the Kai Wai Plaza, Kunming China.

Another meeting was held with Liu Ping Vice-Govornor where Honb'le Commerce Minister Mohammad Faruque Khan was also present. DCCI President presented a crest to Vice Govornor. H E Mr Munshi Faiz Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bangladesh, Md Aminul Islam, Minister(Commercial), Embassy of Bangladesh to Beijing, China were also present to discuss several trade and business issues between Bangladesh and China.

An useful Business Match-Making session was also held at the Yashang Exhibition Trade Centre in parallel with the Exhibition. In the Match-Making session leading business entrepreneurs like Mr. Suman Talukder of SSBCL group, Mr. Sirajuddin Malik, Vice President, Mr. Saiful Islam, Director DCCI participated. Ferdaus Ara Begum, Additional Secretary(R&P) on behalf of the entrepreneurs facilitated business discussion to exchange views about Bangladesh-China Business relations. Mr. Kane Chen, Business Supervisor supported the session on behalf of the Chinese side. Some news editor and TV network have shown interest about knowing about prospects of China-Bangladesh business and investment. Some business proposals in the solar energy sector, packaging and agro processing sector were initiated.

Delegation also participated in the briefing session of the 10th Western China International Economy and Trade Fair sponsored by Sichuan Provincial People's Government organized by Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, Sichuan Provincial People's Government Yunan Office, Kunming, China.
