London, June 23: - British Tourism Minister Barbara Follett, MP has expressed interest to visit Bangladesh soon.

She showed her keen interest to visit Bangladesh while talking to Bangladesh's Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Quader on the sidelines of the Annual Summer Parliamentary Reception programme organised by British Educational Travel Association's (BETA) on terrace of the House of Lords in London.

BETA organised the event to mark its 6th anniversary and the programme was sponsored by SSBCL Group,Bangladeshi business group.

During the meeting, both the ministers discussed how Bangladesh's tourism sector could be developed. Earlier, the two ministers addressed the reception.

Whip HM Golam Reza, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner to the UK Allama Siddiki Lonond UK attended the function.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Quader in his address urged foreign investors, especially British entrepreneurs, to invest in tourism sector in Bangladesh taking advantage of the prevailing investment-friendly atmosphere.

Mentioning huge potentials in the country's tourism sector, he said Bangladesh government is committed to promoting the sector and has already taken various initiatives, including security for tourists and improvement of infrastructure to attract the tourists.

Mr.GM Quader said Bangladesh has not only natural beauty but also archaeological history, which could attract the tourists.

Chairman of BETA Dric Porter also addressed the function.

Organisers said the objective of this event was to ensure greater dialogue between the youth, student and educational travel industry and government departments.

 



The British Educational Travel Association (BETA) will organised the event to mark BETA's 6th anniversary.

British Tourism Minister Barbara Follett MP's will present the programme as the chief guest, while Bangladesh's Civil Aviation and Tourism minister GM Qader will present as special guest and Whip and Member of Parliament HM Golam Reza will also attend the programme.

Organisers said the objective of this event is to ensure greater dialogue between the youth, student and educational travel industry and government departments.

Talking to UNB, Managing Director of SSBCL group Sumon Talukder said that SSBCL group has been sponsoring the BETA's annual summer parliamentary reception since 2007.

We have been sponsoring the programme to make awareness and develop bilateral relation between Bangladesh and UK as well as to develop business relation to attract UK investors in to invest in Bangladesh tourism sector, Sumon Talukder added.
